There’s something seriously special about racing at Château de Chantilly. It’s our only French venue and easily one of the most beautiful on the calendar. With a palace-like château, manicured gardens, and a lake that looks like it was made for racing, this location has a proper wow factor.
We’ll be back on 7–8 June 2025 for the Triathlon and Multisport Festival, and if you’re thinking of joining us, here’s what makes the setting just as exciting as the race.
Chantilly isn’t just a pretty backdrop—it’s one of France’s most iconic estates, just 40 minutes north of Paris. The château as we know it today was mostly rebuilt in the 19th century, but its roots go all the way back to the Middle Ages. Over the centuries, it’s been home to princes, dukes, and one of the most impressive private art collections in the country.
Even from a distance, it makes a statement. Towers, courtyards, arched bridges, and a sweeping park designed by André Le Nôtre (the same landscape designer behind Versailles)—Chantilly has all the elegance you’d expect from French royalty.
But what makes it even better is that we don’t just admire it from afar. During race weekend, athletes are right in the heart of it.
The castle grounds are also home to the Musée Condé, known for its Old Master paintings and illuminated manuscripts. And if you’re a fan of Netflix’s Emily in Paris, you might recognise it from the Season 2 Versailles-style scenes Chantilly stood in for the palace in a few key moments.
The swim at Chantilly takes place in the château’s Grand Canal—a wide, calm stretch of water framed by sculpted trees and formal lawns. It’s the kind of swim start that makes people stop and stare, whether they’re racing or not.
Once you’re out on the bike, you head through the surrounding countryside, passing through villages, open farmland, and forest tracks. It’s fast in places, technical in others, with just enough elevation to keep things interesting. And on the run, you’re back within the estate itself—looping past the château, along gravel paths and shaded woodland.
Every part of the course gives you something to look at. From ancient stonework to sweeping lawns and mirrored lakes, it’s a course that feels as good as it looks.
Chantilly is a brilliant race venue for spectators too. The event village is set right next to the château, with plenty of open space to relax and cheer people on. There’s a great café, a museum, gardens to explore, and a whole weekend’s worth of photo opportunities. Whether you’re bringing family or just treating yourself to a solo race trip, it’s the kind of place that turns a sporting weekend into a bit of an escape.
And yes this is where Chantilly cream comes from. If you’ve never had the real thing, make sure you try it at some point over the weekend. It’s served in the local cafés and patisseries and somehow tastes even better after a hard race effort.
If you’ve never raced abroad before, Chantilly is a great way to start. It’s easy to get to, just a short drive from Paris or a quick train from Gare du Nord and once you arrive, everything’s close by.
Many of our athletes travel from the UK and Ireland, using the ferry or Eurostar, and turn the weekend into a mini holiday.
There’s a brilliant atmosphere at the event itself, with a mix of local French triathletes and an international crowd. Everyone’s up for the challenge, but there’s also a sense of fun and adventure that makes this one stand out.
We see returning athletes year after year, and for good reason, once you’ve raced at Chantilly, it’s hard to top.
If you’re coming for the full weekend, it’s well worth arriving early or staying an extra day. The town of Chantilly has plenty to offer from cafés, boutique shops to horse stables (the Grand Stables are world-famous), and forest trails for gentle post-race exploring.
Paris is also close enough for a day trip or to build into your travel plans.
And if you’re racing with family, there are loads of options to keep everyone happy. From boat hires on the lake to equestrian demonstrations, or simply wandering the castle grounds with an ice cream, there’s a good balance of activity and downtime.
If you haven’t booked yet for this years race, whats holding you back!
