Our Lough Cutra Castle Race event is set within stunning surroundings. Recently accommodating King Charles during a 3-day visit to Ireland, the castle was built during the Gothic revival period and is idyllically situated overlooking the Estate’s 1,000 acre lake (the largest privately owned lake in Europe), home to this event’s open water swims.
Our Lough Cutra Castle event features some truly iconic courses in the West of Ireland. The weekend will host a huge range of races for all ages and abilities.
Whether you’re 9 or 90 years old, a first-timer or an elite, you can pick from our triathlon, duathlon, aquabike, aquathlon, run and swim races.
The inaugural Women Only Sprint Triathlon Event, in partnership with Triathlon Ireland, takes place Saturday. The aim is to provide a platform where every woman experiences a profound sense of achievement and accomplishment, free from competitive racing.

We are delighted that Lough Cutra Castle will host a hat trick of Triathlon Ireland Championship events in 2024; Aquathlon Sprint, Junior Aquathlon and Mixed Team Club Relay, as well as the 2024 Youth Series Qualifier!
This will be a Triathlon Ireland permitted event and therefore competitors taking part in a triathlon / multisport event are required to produce either valid membership or purchase a Triathlon Ireland Day Licence.

This event is a fantastic day out - we welcome supporters to come along, explore the stunning castle grounds, cheer athletes on from numerous up close viewing spots, enjoy the event village entertainment and soak up the festival atmosphere.
*The Sprint race starting at 09:30am will comprise of 2 mixed waves, including the 16-17 years old TI Youth series, and 1 female only competitive wave. (not to be confused with the non-competitive Female only Event taking place later in the morning)
12-13 years triathlon and 14-15 years triathlon is a tarmac bike course on closed roads
9-10 years triathlon and 11-12 years triathlon is off-road, mountain bike advisable
