Introducing Castle Race Series
14.05.21

In 2009, we launched our sporting events with one triathlon race in Kent. Over the last decade our organisation has grown dramatically, and in 2021 we will host 12 event weekends featuring triathlon, multisport, running, swimming, cycling, ultra, colour and obstacle races, at venues across the UK, Ireland and France.

Our growth has been organic, we have built a family of brands – Castle Triathlon Series, Castle Run Series, Castle Swim Series, Castle Cycle Series, Castle Virtual Series, Commando, Run or Dye, Run Wild Fest.

We are proud that together, these events have helped us to deliver industry-leading race experiences for 122,100 athletes, festival fun for 183,000 spectators, opportunities for more than 100 partners, and raised more than £2,000,000 for local and national charities.

What unites all these different events has been our mission to help as many people as possible kickstart and continue their fitness journey. We have continued to grow the variety of disciplines, distances and locations we offer so that we have races for everyone, no matter age or ability.

Over the next 5 years, we will provide opportunities to race for 100,000 athletes and ensure we are making a valuable contribution to both the people we serve and the planet we live on. In order to reach these ambitious goals, now is the time to unite our varied brands in one coherent and consistent company, with one unified vision and one unique brand. We will continue to celebrate the individuality of different locations and events and whilst building a powerful and united whole.

From 14 May 2021 we will be one organisation and one community known as Castle Race Series. Castle Race Series will manage all races, all disciplines, all venues and all communications. We will have one website; we will share news, build and support our community through one set of social media channels.

Castle Race Series host industry-leading event weekends with races for all ages and abilities across the UK, Ireland and France.

Our events feature a variety of race distances (starter to ultra) across a range of disciplines (triathlon, duathlon, aquabike, aquathlon, swimming, running, cycling, colour and obstacle), as well as opportunities to enjoy live music, talks, activities and camping.

Everyone is welcome to come along to run, swim or cycle; go steady or go fast; compete, volunteer or cheer!

What happens to my race place for 2021?

Your race place is safe. Although our organisation is evolving, there is will be no change to our venues, our disciplines or our distances.

Can I race with you in 2021?

Yes! We still have race places available at all our venues and we’d love you to join us to race your race. Whether you’re a beginner or an elite, a first time racer or an old timer there is a race for you and we’re here to cheer you on! Explore our upcoming events here.

The COVID-19 pandemic has accelerated the changes we had already internally committed to make. Like other live event organisers, we have suffered significant blows due to race cancellations over the last 12 months. This has compelled us to review what is critical to the organisation and what changes we should make to limit costs, reduce financial risks, and operate as efficiently as possible – that way we can stay focused and devote the energy, time and investment needed to provide industry-leading sports events for all ages and all abilities.

This will mean we can offer a consistent experience across all our events, all our disciplines, and all forms of participation, whether as an athlete, supporter, supplier or volunteer.

Two of the biggest challenges we face are our health and the health of our planet. At Castle Race Series, we have made commitments to help tackle these challenges which we will continue to measure, evolve and improve over the coming years.

Our vision for responsible racing includes environmental, social and governance commitments. We are taking action on climate change; we are fostering happy, healthy communities and we are ensuring ethical practices and procedures. You can find out more here.

These commitments mark a significant step forward for our organisation. We’re delighted to be working with our community to achieve them so that we can race together in 2021 and long into the future.
