Farewell to Castle Howard

Farewell to Castle Howard

Today, Friday 27th October 2023, we had to share the disappointing news with our participants that the Castle Howard Triathlon and Multisport Event, scheduled for the 27/28 July 2024, is to be cancelled with immediate effect. This is due to an unexpected “change of strategic direction” from Castle Howard.

Despite our very best efforts to race one more year, our 14 years of racing at Castle Howard has come to an end. We look back with very fond memories and bid a sad farewell to a truly great event!

A new jewel for the castle crown

However, as one drawbridge closes another one opens and we have some fantastic news! Brian Adcock, our Race Director, has acquired a new jewel for the castle crown! We are delighted to announce that Belvoir Castle in Leicestershire, has joined the Castle Race Series for the 2024 season.

Romantic fairy-tale Castle

Belvoir Castle’s history dates back to the eleventh century. It is the ancestral home of the Duke of Rutland, where the family have lived in an unbroken line for almost a thousand years.

Crowning a hill, the Castle’s turrets and towers rise over the Vale of Belvoir like an illustration in a romantic fairy-tale. The name Belvoir – meaning ‘beautiful view’ in French, and pronounced today as ‘beaver’ – dates back to Norman times.

Triathlon and Multisport Festival 27/28 July 2024

The Belvoir Castle Triathlon and Multisport Festival will take place on the 27/28 July 2024, (the very same weekend Howard was due to take place). The multi-sport format offering will remain the same and includes a stunning onsite wild camping area.
