Athletes from near and far gathered for an exhilarating weekend of swimming, cycling, and running, with over 35 races hosted and participants ranging from 8 to 78 years old. Under a mix of sunshine and showers, competitors faced a variety of courses, each presenting its own unique challenges.
The event village buzzed with excitement as spectators gathered to cheer on athletes crossing the finish line in front of the stunning backdrop of Cholmondeley Castle.
Racing at the castle is a one-of-a-kind experience, made even more unforgettable by the passionate supporters lining the courses, offering spirited encouragement throughout the day.
The day began with the Sprint Plus and Sprint Triathlon races, setting an electrifying pace as athletes gave it their all from the first whistle. These dynamic events were followed by the Duathlon, Aquabike, and Aquathlon, offering a variety of challenges and showcasing the competitors’ incredible endurance and adaptability.
Congratulations to Matthew McClure and Amy Kenworthy, winners of the Sprint Plus, for their exceptional performances!
The sunny morning session concluded with the Super Sprint and Starter Sprint Triathlons, alongside the Swim Series, which drew a large number of enthusiastic swimmers. The 5K swim saw standout performances from Ashley Hogg and Lesley Dawson, who emerged as winners.
These events brought extra excitement and friendly competition, keeping energy levels high and spirits soaring for both athletes and spectators alike.
Castle Race Series ambassador Bailey Matthews completed his very first super sprint on Saturday morning, marking a major milestone as he moved up from the starter distance.
After a decade of competing with Castle Race Series, Bailey—who has cerebral palsy—nearly doubled his usual race distance at age 18, having first joined the series at just 8 years old. The Castle Race Series team is incredibly proud of Bailey and the unwavering determination and grit he brings to every race. #BeMoreBailey
In the afternoon, attention turned to the youth events, featuring races across three distinct age groups. It was truly inspiring to witness so many young athletes giving their best, showcasing impressive talent, determination, and sportsmanship.
These youth races offered a glimpse into the bright future of the sport and provided an energetic and uplifting finale to an action-packed day.
In the afternoon, we also launched the Mixed Team Relay event, where teams battled fiercely for the top spot. Each athlete completed a 250m swim, a 5k bike ride, and a 1.5k run. Congratulations to team NTC Sharks from Newcastle Tri Club for taking the win!
We’d also like to applaud every team that participated—your teamwork was outstanding, and you should all be very proud of your efforts!
Sunday kicked off at 8 a.m. with Gauntlet athletes tackling the iconic half iron distance. James Wells Crowther and Katherine O’Mahony were first across the line.
Soon after, athletes tackled the Standard Distance Triathlon, with impressive victories by Liam Vandamme and Georgia Hilleard.
Duathletes, aquathletes, and aquabikers powered through, with Andy Holladay and Gaynor Seymour topping the middle distance duathlon.
The Run Series saw impressive participation across the marathon, half marathon, and 10K events. Congratulations to the marathon winners: Jaime Gutierrez, who defended his title with a sub-3-hour finish, and Ciara Wilde.
In the afternoon, the course came alive with the energy of our younger athletes, as the 9–10 year olds and 11–12 non-drafting juniors took to the start line.
It’s always a highlight to watch these budding triathletes give it their all, racing with huge smiles and infectious enthusiasm. Their determination, teamwork, and joy are a reminder of what the sport is all about.
We can’t wait to watch them grow in confidence, develop their skills, and continue their exciting triathlon journey for years to come!

Race Director Brian Adcock said “It was incredible to see so many people travel from near and far to join us at the stunning Cholmondeley Castle estate for a glorious weekend (yes, even with the occasional weather surprise — classic British summer!).
The atmosphere in the event village was absolutely buzzing, with athletes of all ages giving it their all and supporters cheering like pros. A huge thanks to everyone who made it happen — from the racers and spectators to the tireless crew and marshals. Roll on 2026 — we’re already checking the forecast!”
A huge thank you to everyone who joined us at Cholmondeley Castle for a weekend of sweat, cheers, and possibly some questionable tan lines. Watching you all Race Your Way was a blast — from speedy sprinters to determined jog-walkers, you nailed it.
Big shout-out to the spectators who clapped ’til their hands hurt, the food stalls that kept us fuelled (and slightly over-caffeinated), the pop-up shops that made us want things we didn’t know we needed, and the live band that had us toe-tapping mid-transition.
And of course, to the marshals and crew — our unsung heroes in purple and hi-vis — we literally couldn’t have done it without you.
Here’s to sports, snacks, and another unforgettable weekend. Same time next year?
The stunning backdrop of Cholmondeley Castle and its lake made for an epic weekend of racing — and the very British weather added an extra layer of excitement (sun, showers, repeat!).
From sunshine to sideways rain, nothing could dampen the festival vibes or your race-day spirit. Cheshire, you were chaotic and glorious as ever.
We loved every minute and hope to see you back for more swim-bike-run-fun (and unpredictable skies) on 20th & 21st June 2026!
