Athletes travelled from around the country to enjoy a weekend filled of swim bike and run. Swimmers enjoyed exclusive access to Deer Park Mere, cyclists tackled long courses through the grounds and surrounding lanes, and runners were rewarded with breathtaking views of panoramic views of the Beeston and Peckforton Hills after the tough climb up Tower Hill. Cholmondeley Castle really is a stunning place to race, made all the or special by loud and loyal supporters dotted around the courses cheering!

Sunday morning saw Gauntlet athletes head into the lake at 8am to complete our infamous half iron man distance, a 1.9k swim, 90k bike and 21.1k run. The first man back was Matthew Lear (04:33:57) and first woman was Charlotte Black of Stockport Tri Club (05:56:21).

More triathletes complete the Olympic distance and Youth distances. Duathletes, Aquathlon and Aquabike athletes were back to complete the longer race distances and the Run Series saw marathons, half marathons and 10K races completed.

Speaking about the event Race Director Brian Adcock said “This is always a stand out event in the North West – and this year didn’t disappoint. The Mixed Team Relay brought an incredible atmosphere to the festival village on Saturday afternoon and we have plans to grow this event to make it the largest event of its kind in the country. The Main Stage music kept the energy levels of athletes, marshals and spectators up throughout the weekend, and a special mention must go to the epic military fly overs by Hurricanes. We’re proud that this event continues to be a festival of Swim, Bike, Run for families, friends, clubs and companies. Long may that continue!”
