10 reasons to race at Lough Cutra Castle in May 2022
19.01.22

We will be returning to Lough Cutra Castle on Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th May 2022.

Thinking about joining us? Our team have 10 reasons why you shouldn’t miss out…

1. It's our 10th Anniversary

The Race Director, Brian Adcock, first visited Lough Cutra Castle in 2011 and fell in love with the place. 2012 saw our first event in Ireland and we’re still going strong!

2. Race covid safe

We first hosted a covid safe event in September 2020. All our races in 2021 were run in line with covid protocols, so we have a lot of experience in helping our athletes to compete with peace of mind. Lough Cutra Castle 2022 will be our 10th covid safe race.

3. New swim only routes

The new 2.5K and 5K swim only routes will see swimmers enjoy out and back routes making for an even more memorably swim experience in the largest privately owned lake in Europe!

4. Upgraded road surfaces on cycle routes

We have been busy in the off season and are working with the relevant authorities in both County Clare and Galway to get the cycle route surfaces improved.

5. Upgraded running surfaces on run routes

Working with the castle estate we have continued with our programme of upgrading the internal estate tracks and paths so that the Deer Park loop is now both a thing of natural and running beauty.

6. Kids races consolidated

Our children’s races are now all on the same afternoon (the Sunday) of the race and offer some of the most stunning, friendly, fun and challenging races on the junior circuit in Ireland for 2022.

7. Festival fun for all

The festival side of our events just gets better and better with a return of our Irish house band the Treblemakers, an improved trade village and delicious food concessions for athletes and spectators to enjoy.

8. Wild camping

With a stunning campsite overlooking the castle lake what’s not to like? Hot showers and electric hook up too….why not make a weekend of it?

9. Great day out for spectators

With 22 different races going on over the weekend, a buzzing festival vibe and some of the most stunning scenery at a normally exclusively private castle, why not bring a car full of spectators too?

10. Chance to explore the local area

With The Burren, Kinvara, Lahinch, Lisdoonvarna and Cliffs of Moher all within striking distance make this a weekend or holiday to remember (for those of you travelling from further afield look out for our online travel discounts).
