10 reasons to race at Hever Castle in July 2022
29.06.22

This weekend we're back in the iconic grounds of Hever Castle for our Festival of Endurance, celebrating athletes who like to test themselves to the limits and 'go long' with their distances. Find out why we think you should not miss this weekend...

1. It's our 8th Anniversary

The Race Director, Brian Adcock, first visited Hever in 2009 and fell in love with the place. He now lives two miles from the estate and this is one of three sporting festivals we host at this spectacular venue.

2. The Bastion

The full iron distance race, The Bastion – 3.8K/180.2K/42.2K – has been described as one of “Life’s Defining Experiences”. This race has been designed to offer the ultimate physical challenge to athletes but in the most beautiful setting. On completion, this weekend’s athletes will earn bragging rights to arguably one of the toughest races in the world.

3. An endurance offering for everyone

We offer triathletes, aquabikers, aquathletes, duathletes, swimmers, cyclists and runners the chance to go long in one of the most stunning parts of the UK.

4. Improved swim course

A newly dredged swim course provides the crown of all inland swimming races with an 800m river section and arguably the most picturesque start in outdoor swimming from the Italianate Loggia in the formal gardens of the castle.

5. Upgraded road surfaces on cycle routes

We have been busy in the off season and are working with the Highways departments in Kent to get the cycle route surfaces improved.

6. Upgraded surfaces on run routes

Working with the Hever Castle estate, the Chiddingstone Castle estate and the Bellhurst Trust we have continued with our programme of internal estate tracks and paths upgrading.

7. Race for a good cause

Race for Macmillan Cancer Support. Our Charity Partner still have charity entries available. Why not make a difference, help a fantastic cause and also have fun doing so. You can find out more here and sign up to for a Macmillan race place on the booking form.

8. Festival offering

The festival side of our events just gets better and better with a return of our in house band, an improved trade village, the return of the climbing wall, the inflatables and delicious food concessions.

9. Spectator offering

With 15 different races going on over the weekend, a buzzing festival vibe and some of the most stunning scenery at a normally private castle, why not bring a car full of spectators too?

10. Make a weekend of it

With London a 30 minute train journey away, Chartwell just up the road and the spa town of Royal Tunbridge Wells only 10 miles away.
