Team Phoenix Celebrates 10th Anniversary and Reaches BBC Awards Final

This year marks a special milestone for The Team Phoenix Foundation as they celebrate their 10th anniversary made even more memorable by being named finalists in the BBC Make a Difference Awards Active Award category.

Who are Team Phoenix?

The Team Phoenix Foundation is a charity dedicated to supporting women who have had a breast cancer diagnosis, helping them rebuild their physical and mental wellbeing through sport, friendship and a shared challenge.

Founded by women who have themselves experienced breast cancer, Team Phoenix runs a six-month programme providing the coaching, encouragement and team spirit needed to take on something many may never have imagined possible, completing a triathlon.

The Phoenix Philosophy

Like the sport of triathlon itself, the Team Phoenix philosophy is threefold: MIND, BODY and SOUL. Their programme is about far more than preparing for race day; it is about helping women rebuild confidence, rediscover their physical strength and experience the support and friendship that comes from being part of a team.

Through training together and working towards a shared goal, participants are encouraged to challenge themselves, celebrate what their bodies can achieve and look forward with renewed confidence. In the charity’s own words, Team Phoenix helps women to “fly again”.

A Decade at Castle Race Series

Since 2016, Team Phoenix participants have taken on our Super Sprint Triathlon at Hever Castle. It has been a privilege to play a small part in their journey and to see so many women achieve the incredible challenge they have spent months working towards. Cheering on Team Phoenix members around the course and over the finish line has become a very special part of our events.

We are excited for Team Phoenix to be joining us again this year in 2026.

Finalists of the BBC Make a Difference Awards

We are delighted to hear that Team Phoenix have been named finalists in the Active Award category of the BBC Make a Difference Awards. We believe this is fitting recognition for a charity that makes real positive impact through physical activity, friendship and community.
